Jungle fire at Mokokchung Assam Rifles firing range brought under control

A jungle fire incident was reported from the Assam Rifles firing range, Mokokchung at 12:14 pm on March 4, following an alert received from Assam Rifles.

Keleseho Stephen Tsukru, Officer-in-Charge, Fire & Services, informed that upon receiving the call, one Water Tender Pump (WTP) from Fire & Services South Mokokchung and two WTPs from Fire & Services North Mokokchung were immediately pressed into action, and the fire was brought under control at around 4:20 pm.

During the firefighting operation, personnel from Assam Rifles and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) assisted in preventing the fire from spreading further towards nearby human habitation areas.

According to local sources, the fire is suspected to have originated from some villagers clearing farming land by burning. However, there was no loss of property and no harm to any individual reported in the incident.
