A referee clinic was organised by the Kohima District Basketball Association (KDBA) organised on 1 July 2023 at Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Basketball Court, Kohima.
It was a one-day clinic aimed to improvise the current standards of refereeing and enhance knowledge about the intricacies of basketball in the district and the state as a whole.

The class was conducted by Salew Kadete, MBA in sports Management, HITS Chennai, NSNIS, Patiala (Diploma in shorts coaching) Certified coach, Basketball. He is among the only two certified referee coach in Nagaland.
The clinic received participants from other districts of Nagaland.
There was a good turnout of a sport as eager to learn more about the intricacies of the game of basketball.
Founding member and President Vimhalie Pienyü in his short speech welcomed the participants and expressed his gratitude and happiness to seeing many eager learners. He also reminded that we need modern refereeing for basketball to progress in the state.
The attendees will be certified as professional coach and can be a referee all over India. He said such program will upgrade game standard in Kohima and will carry this achievement out of state too.
He also mentioned that since there are many basketball enthusiasts, there is an urgent need of improvisation of proper infrastructure and the need of a proper indoor stadium for Basketball players. The president also requests the state government and concern department to stress importance on all sportspersons be it Basketball or other sports and give more platform for sports person to find their career in sports.
KDBA was founded on 24 July 2022 under the aegis of the Nagaland Basketball Association (NBA) to nurture and promote the growth of Basketball both in Kohima and Nagaland.
