The 50th year academic establishment of Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA), Zunheboto, was celebrated today under the theme “Semper Ad Meliora” at Multipurpose Hall, KPA.
The celebration was hosted by Medo Yhokha, Advisor Technical Education & Elections with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as the Special Guest.
CM Rio speaking during the event said he was told that when KPA first started there were only 37 students but over the years the growth in numbers of students has been remarkable. The college now has over 200 students; a testament to the dedication of the faculties, land donors and the community, he added.
Rio also said he was happy that the KPA has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation. He also shared that he would be happy to give permission to establish a full-fledged engineering college but the approval would be required from Delhi, for which a combined effort would be needed.
He also pointed out that KPA was not only for Zunheboto district but for all citizens of the state and that they are trying their best for the wellbeing of the college and he prays and hopes that KPA become a centre of excellence.
Rio further believes that KPA will produce a lot of technicians who can serve for themselves and for the state.

Er Picto Shohe, MLA Atoizu
Er Picto Shohe MLA Atoizu in his speech lauded all the sumi legislatures and sumi Civil Society Organizations, Minister and Advisor Technical Education, Officers and staffs Technical Education, Land donors and the community for their consistent efforts rendered towards the growth of KPA.
Picto while reminding that the KPA had been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) requested the Chief Minister to expedite the upgradation of KPA to a full-fledged engineering college.
As an alumnus, he added that he was fortunate to have studied in KPA in 1974.
KPA has produced many prominent officers over time and further urged the students and faculties of KPA to uphold the legacy of the college, he further added.

The KPA Teachers’ Association also aired their grievances during the event to the CM and drew attention to issues such as the deplorable Coco road which connects the institute to the state capital via Wokha, internet connectivity, banking facilities, guest house and deplorable conditions of staff quarters.
The Anniversary stone was unveiled by the Chief Minister at the function while Vitoka Zhimomi, Pastor ATBC (Aizuto) dedicated the Anniversary stone.
Earlier the invocation was pronounced by Kakuto Awomi, Pastor NCRC, Asukhuto town. The welcome address was delivered by Er M Nakro Director, Technical Education Nagaland. Cultural presentation (Thishole) was presented by Asukhuto mothers while vote of thanks proposed by Er Neikhrove Pfuno Principal, KPA and concluded with a benediction pronounced by Helika Swu APC, ATBC (Nito Mount).
