Confirming solidarity with the Eastern Naga Peoples’ Organisation’s (ENPO) August resolution, the Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) held a Joint Consultative Meeting with all its frontal organizations and village council on 22 September at Noklak.
On 26 August 2022, the ENPO had resolved to abstain from participating in any election process of the state and central on the backdrop of its demand for ‘Frontier Nagaland’ or statehood.
KTC on Thursday decided to stand by that resolution. Further, KTC also declared that it would ban all election related activities under Khaimnuingan jurisdiction.
“Further, the house has resolved to ban any election-related campaign by any political parties, candidature declaration programme by any individual(s), group or party under Khiamniungan Jurisdiction,” it said.
The house also declared full support to ENSF’s ‘mass public Walkathon’ to be held on 7 October.
The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) had on 20 September convened an Emergency Federal Assembly at Anatongre village under Shamator District and decided to hold a ‘mass public walkathon’ in all headquarters in eastern Nagaland in demand for ‘Frontier Nagaland’.
KTC informed all villages to conduct village level joint meetings of village council, public organisation, student bodies, political party workers, independent candidates and intending candidates for successful enforcement of the ENPO resolution.
The tribal council in the end gave stern warning to anybody who stand against the demand for ‘Frontier Nagaland’.
