Kigwema observes joint Teachers Day to honour teachers in the village

The Kigwema village observed a combined Pre-Teachers’ Day on September 3 at the Village Council Hall for the staff and faculty of the educational institutions within Kigwema, under Kohima district.

Dr. Kevizake Rio, Joint Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha, department of School Education graced the occasion as the guest speaker and engaged the audience about his younger days in Kigwema village. He went on to share the transformative role of Samagra Shisha, a centrally sponsored scheme, in realizing education in Nagaland. He emphasized the novelty of teaching as a rewarding profession, underlined by the students’ achievements and the lifetime respect earned from society.

The event also witnessed a science model exhibition, folk song and a tribute speech presented by students of five schools, namely- Government Higher Secondary School, Kigwema; Government Middle School, Kigwema; Government Primary School Sector ‘C’, Kigwema; Government Primary School, Kipfüzha, Kigwema, and St. Edmund’s School, Kigwema.

A total of eighty-eight serving staff and faculty of those institutions were acknowledged during the occasion.

Earlier, Balie Kere, Chairman of Kigwema Village Council, delivered the welcome address, while Neilekho Zütso, chairman of the School Management Community, summed up the celebration with a vote of thanks. The programme was chaired by Menosiele Yhoshü, President of the Kigwema Students’ Union.
