Kiphire: Workshop drew youths from various watershed villagers

The Department of Land Resources today conducted a ‘Workshop on Livelihood Opportunities in Photography’ under PMKSY-WDC 2.0 (Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana-Watershed Development Component) in celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM2.0) with Kitoka Sangtam, a reporter and full-time wedding photographer from Kiphire, as the resource person.

Sharing the objective of the program, DPO Land Resources, Lipichem said the program aims to give skills to the youths to learn to capture the water bodies so as to create awareness on water.

He said very soon the department will organise competition of the skills taught amongst the participants on water bodies, like spring, traditional pond and tell stories on this so that the forgotten common property is restored. Lipichem also added that apart from this there are ample opportunity to make living taking up this skill.

Kitoka Sangtam, while sharing on the input and technical aspects of photography said, “This is booming industry and one can make living out of photography if taken seriously.

He also added, one should have good rapport with customers if we want to shine.

“There are risk factors involved in all ventures of life, be ready to face one if you are really serious about your career, don’t give up easily on your dreams, you are meant to do big in life,” said Sangtam.

Adding that photography is an art he said, taking up photography helps ease the tension and makes you happy when you see your work display in some homes and shops.

During the program, participants were allowed to have first hand exposure on camera by taking pictures.
