A career counselling program was organised for self-employed home tailors on Wednesday by Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), Kiphire under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. The program was conducted at JSS office in Kiphire.
Highlighting the aims of the skills development project, Tsadiba Sangtam, Director, JSS, Kiphire said that JSS’ goal is to provide vocational training to non-literates, neo-literates as well as school dropouts in rural regions by identifying skills that have a relevant market in that region. By imparting essential skills training and thereby enabling local trades to grow and creating new opportunities, Jan Shikshan Sansthan’s objective is to uplift the rural population economically.

Stating the benefits of home tailoring business, the director said that JSS beneficiaries can become independent and earn livelihood without much struggle as the profit margins are great and there are no requirements of commercial room/ space.

“We want you all to set goals for setting up businesses and invest your skills accordingly,” he said.
Citing the example of RUPA company, a multi – million company popular for inner wears, formed in the year 1968, he encouraged the attendees to focus on their goals rather than giving up too easily without facing any failures. Tsadiba lamented that most Nagas undergo different skills training only to give up on them, which is a sad scenario.
If we want to succeed, we should be willing to take risks and have learn from our mistakes in the journey of entrepreneurship or for that matter any field of life, he said.
“Be ready to face some failures on way to success,” the director heartened.

The significance of G20 was highlighted by Thrilemse L where he mentioned that G20, formed in 1999 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation, which plays an important role in shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major international economic issues and currently. India holds the Presidency of the G20 from 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2023.
He also underscored the areas of focus of G20 that include combatting global warming, bringing development among the member countries, to combat poverty and encouraging innovation.
In the program, Throngseli, Manager cum field worker, Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Kiphire gave the welcome address while Tangthsethsi chaired.
