Kiphire: NSS and Zisaji Presidency College participate in ‘Run for Unity’

Kiphire: The run was organised to mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwaas in celebration of the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sanghathan (NYKS) of Kiphire District in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit Zisaji Presidency College, Kiphire organised ‘Run for Unity’ this morning in Kiphire Town.

The run was organised to mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwaas in celebration of the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

In Kiphire Town, the NSS volunteers joined with the NYKS members and started the Unity Run from Deluxe Point to Public Ground, Kiphire.

Gagan Chandra Mishra, HoD in Political Science hosted the event as the Programme Officer, NSS.

Mishra encouraged the volunteers to forget all the differences that exist in society and make a united effort instead to bring about harmony and peace in society. He also highlighted how the youth mass can bring a lot of changes through coordination, collaboration and cooperation among themselves in various fields.

He urged each volunteer to be an agent of change in society in general and in Kiphire district in particular.

Since 2014, ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ or National Unity Day has been observed by the central government to reaffirm the its dedication to strengthen the unity, integrity and the security of the nation.

Patel was the first home minister and deputy prime minister of India and played an important role in the nation’s movement for independence. Through him, over 560 princely states were integrated into the Union of India.
