Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU) Office cum Library was inaugurated at Seyochung in Kiphire district on 5th January 2024 during the ongoing 29 UBA (General Session) of the student body. The session that commenced on 4th January under the theme Ara Yang Thaliba (Back to the Roots) and will culminate on Monday.
The building was inaugurated by Colonel Vikee Lamoria, Commandant, 41 Assam Rifles.
At the program, Longtili C Anar, Press & Information Secretary, SASU, apprised that the construction for the building began in April 2023. Attributing its completion to the collaborative efforts involving well-wishers, Village Councils, and government employees from seven villages and the town of Seyochung, Seyochung Area Students’ Union extended its gratitude to all donors.
Anar informed that the new facility is situated in the heart of the main village area and will cater to the intellectual needs of students and the public alike. The 24/7 open library will boast a diverse collection, encompassing traditional, digital, and multimedia resources, along with articles contributed by esteemed faculty and the general public, he added.
The SASU Press & Information Secretary further informed that the library will be operated under the supervision of literary secretaries for a tenure of three years each.
SASU has also invited readers to immerse themselves in knowledge, with weekly maintenance routines and a generous seven-day lending period.
The Office cum Library inaugural program was chaired by Vitsala S. Sangtam, Assistant General Secretary, SASU, opening prayer by Khumpi, Pastor STBL and a brief report on building construction presented by T Thinglise, President, SASU. Vote of thanks was delivered by T. Lichumse Sangtam, Executive Chairman SASU, and closing prayer by Chumpila, Women Pastor, STBL.
