The Kiphire Village Council, along with its citizens, proudly held the inauguration of its bypass road today, with Temsuwati Longkumer (NCS), Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, gracing the occasion as the special guest and dedicating the monolith.

Speaking at the event, DC Longkumer appreciated the sincere efforts of the Kiphire Village Council in taking up the responsibility not just for the welfare of the village but for the broader benefit of Kiphire town and its citizens. “Where there are roads, development follows,” he said, while emphasizing the importance of proper infrastructure planning.

He encouraged the villagers to construct a proper drainage system along the bypass stretch to ensure its longevity. While the road is currently in a kuccha (unpaved) state, he advised the community to explore appropriate channels under the PMGSY scheme for future blacktopping and enhancements.

The DC also assured that the district administration and concerned departments stand ready to assist any deserving and responsible civil organization, especially at the grassroots level, in accessing development benefits.

Further in his address, Longkumer called upon the gathering to uphold peace and unity at all times in order to advance the progress of the village and district. He lauded the Kiphire Village Council for setting an example and urged them to continue their developmental efforts.

In a short address, Tsidongchem, Chairman of Kiphire Village Council, expressed his gratitude to the villagers and local leaders for their cooperative spirit. He said the bypass road is a step towards building a positive image for the village and contributing to the greater good.

The Chairman shared that the project, which began in 2022, faced some challenges and delays, but was finally completed this year. The 8.1 km stretch begins near the 16km Bridge and has successfully reduced travel time from 30 minutes to about 15 minutes.

The road is already in use by sumo taxis and other light vehicles and is expected to be accessible for heavy vehicles in a few months.

Among other dignitaries present at the program were the ADC, EAC, and Commandant of the 14 Assam Rifles.

The program was chaired by Rezila, with an invocation prayer offered by Pastor Tsoshechu of Kiphire Village Baptist Lithro. The welcome address was delivered by GB Yanglizi, and the event concluded with a benediction by Women Pastor Likhumla of Kiphire Village Baptist Lithro.
