Kiruphema Youth Organisation begins 50th Anniversary celebration

Kiruphema: Celebration to feature wide array of traditional wrestling, games and athletic events

The Kiruphema Youth Organisation (KYO) officially began its 50th anniversary celebration on 1st November 2024 with a solemn dedication prayer for Jubilee program led by Catechist Neikholie Mor. The milestone event, marking five decades of youth unity and community spirit is scheduled to take place from 17th to 21st December 2024 at Kiruphema Ground.

The Organising Committee informed that the celebration will feature a wide array of traditional wrestling, games and athletic events, with eight peer groups and over 700 participants competing. The event promises to be a vibrant showcase of sportsmanship, teamwork, and cultural pride, attracting the local community and neighboring areas.

The inaugural ceremony will be honored by the presence of Nagaland’s first woman Cabinet Minister, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture.

The closing ceremony will be graced by Dzüvi-u Zhünyü, President of the Western Angami ‘D’ Public Organisation and former KYO President, who will conclude the event with reflections on KYO’s journey and aspirations for the future.

As a tribute to this landmark occasion, the Jubilee theme song, “A Kekhrie Kiruphera,” composed by Kedovitha Hesielie, was recently launched. Additionally, a traditional seating area known as “Badze” was inaugurated, symbolically brought to life by all the 13 living presidents of KYO.
