In observance of World Youth Skills Day 2025, Kohima College today formally launched the Entrepreneurship Development Certificate Course (EDCC)—a 36-hour certified training programme designed for inculcating an entrepreneurial mindset and business acumen among students.
The launch event was chaired by D. Konei Nakhro, Associate Professor and Convenor of the Skill Development Committee, and witnessed active participation from faculty, students, and representatives from partnering institutions.
The programme began with an invocation by Dr. Kekhrieseno Christina & a short speech on the formal launch of the EDCC by Dr Vitsosie Vupru, Principal, Kohima College, who lauded the initiative as
“a timely step towards aligning education with emerging career realities and fostering self-reliance among youth”. Vupru also stated that courses like this would help students build confidence and turn their ideas into sustainable ventures.
The certificate course is being organised in collaboration with the Entrepreneur School of Business
(ESB)—(formerly EduCentre)—and the funding sponsor, Alumni Association, Kohima College. It functions as a startup incubation centre that supports aspiring entrepreneurs through mentorship, training, and networking.

This EDCC aims to help students view entrepreneurship as a viable career option and enhance their entrepreneurial and managerial potential. Course modules include foundational knowledge of marketing, finance, operations management, government schemes for startups, and business plan development. Students enrolled in the programme would gain access to incubation support (mentorship, funding exposure, digital marketing tools, internship opportunities, and real-time interaction with entrepreneurs from Nagaland’s startup ecosystem)
The key learning outcomes of the EDCC include goal-setting, confident communication, business planning, resilience, and self-awareness—skills considered vital for entrepreneurial success.
A total of 31 students from Kohima College have registered for the inaugural batch, signalling growing interest among youth in entrepreneurial careers.
The launch of EDCC marks a significant step forward in Kohima College’s commitment to integrating skill development into higher education and equipping students for dynamic career paths in the 21st-century economy.
