Kohima College held its 54th Freshers’ Day on 19 August 2023 and also inducted the new Kohima College Students’ Council team for 2023-24, DIPR said.
The Special Guest on the occasion was Dr A. Nshoga, Director of the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, who in his address highlighted the privilege of Kohima College students in Nagaland, emphasizing their access to exceptional educators.
He stressed the students’ responsibility for the college’s growth, underlining that success is achieved through hard work and determination. Dr Nshoga also reminded the freshers of their unique role as the first batch under the National Education Policy (NEP) in Nagaland, encouraging them to embrace challenges for a brighter future.
The program commenced with an invocation and a welcome note by Dr Petevinuo Chase, Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Science, and Dr Vitsosie Vupru, Principal of Kohima College, respectively.
The event also featured the induction of the newest Kohima College Students’ Council team, led by General Secretary Nuvekho Rhakho, a 5th-semester Political Science Honours student. Outgoing General Secretary Hyulo Tsela shared his experiences at Kohima College and highlighted the activities of KCSC for the academic year 2022-2023.
In his speech, General Secretary Nuvekho Rhakho reassured the freshers and emphasized unity.
The program concluded with the crowning Lhouviselie Kehie from the Department of Commerce and Rovinguno Nakhro from the Department of Political Science as Mr and Miss Freshers 2023.
Lhousazolie Zumu, outgoing Assistant General Secretary, delivered vote of thanks.
