Kohima DB Association holds seminar cum picnic

Jakhama: MLA Rhutso emphasises role of Dobashis in preseving customary laws and practices

A seminar cum picnic of Kohima District Dobashi Association was held on 12th September 2024 at the Customary Court of SDO (C) Office, Jakhama.

Speaking at the occasion as guest of honour, MLA, Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso said that Dobashis play an important role in preservation of customary laws and practices of the Naga people. He asserted that the service of Dobashis is unique, so they perform their duties by assisting the district administration, the Police force and they also act as a judge in the DB’s Court.

In his short speech, SDO (C) Jakhama, Nockpai Konyak stated that Dobashis are the backbone of district administration, and said when the administrator posted to any district Dobashis assist them to deal with the local affairs as well as other relating to their custom, tradition and their practices.

Earlier, Former Pastor, Phesama Baptist Church invoked God’s blessings while the welcome address was delivered by Viselie, DB Jakhama. General Secretary of Kohima District DB’s Association, Notho Koso presented the general report while Menuolie Mere DB exhorted the gathering. Tejonü Lcho and Mecievinü Lcho presented Tati pfhe (folk tune) and culminated with a vote of thanks by Visakholie Nisa, DB. The programme was chaired by PA to DC Kohima, Apfheo Methaseo Chuse.
