The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, has advised the public to exercise caution while travelling on the Leriei Chazou Chainage on National Highway-2 on the Kohima-Mao Road due to the mudslide caused by incessant rains.

The DC stated that the debris clearance and road restoration work were ongoing, however, “the probability of more slides occurring cannot be ruled out due to loose and porous nature of soil at site.”

Therefore, public is advised to exercise caution commuting through this route, the Advisory said.

It also suggested alternate route via Cathedral/Little Flower Higher Secondary School-Aradura-New Reserve (Police Union Baptist Church) for light motor vehicle (LMVs).
