An emergency meeting of the Kohima District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) was convened at the DPDB hall Kohima on 20th August 2024, to address the landslide on NH 29, near Dzüdza Bridge under Sechü-Zubza Kohima, which has impacted traffic and the supply of essential commodities. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kumar Ramnikant IAS chaired the meeting, informing attendees that the SDO Civil Sechü-Zubza, along with village authorities and contractor personnel had inspected the upper reaches of the landslide area and submitted a report.
A committee, with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and CEO, DDMA Kohima Rhosietho Nguori, NCS as its Chairman, has been formed to visit and monitor the affected area. Following the assessment, the committee will draft a plan to mitigate the occurrence of continuous landslides and submit a report for further action by higher authorities.
The meeting prioritized the need to channelize traffic, particularly for trucks carrying essential commodities, fuel, and medicines. Additionally, teams were proposed to visit stranded trucks and provide basic assistance to truckers in need.
All concerned agencies have been directed to maintain other used roads properly for commuters.
