The Kohima District Level Science Seminar was organized by the District Education Office Kohima in collaboration with the National Science Centre, Guwahati, a unit of the National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, and the Directorate of School Education, Nagaland.
The programme was held on September 30, 2025 at the District Education Office Kohima on the topic, ‘The Quantum Age Begins: Potentials and Challenges’.
The keynote address was delivered by Patricia Vizo, Joint Director, Directorate of School Education (DoSE). She emphasized the transformative possibilities of the emerging Quantum Age, stating that quantum science is not just a distant concept but a force already shaping daily life—and one that will increasingly influence the future.
She highlighted the quantum applications across several key areas such as agriculture, health, energy, and technology. While she also stressed the challenges that accompany such progress, stating that quantum systems are expensive and complex, requiring deep knowledge of mathematics and science. Besides, she emphasized the need to be responsible for use of these powerful tools wisely to benefit humanity rather than cause harm.
She asserted that the future will belong to those who prepare today through curiosity, hard work, and imagination. While she observed that many in the audience may one day become the scientists, educators, doctors, or innovators who will determine how quantum technologies are applied.
Vizo reminded the participants about Albert Einstein’s words: “The important thing is not to stop questioning,” and she encouraged the students to keep asking questions, build strong foundations in their studies, and embrace the opportunities of the Quantum Age—because the next great discovery could be theirs.
The program was led by Kajina Sote, Project Assistant, DMA, Samagra Shiksha, with an invocation prayer by Neisiesa Chüsi, AEO at Sr. SDEO Kohima. The welcome address was delivered by Rokoneinuo, ADC, DMA, Samagra Shiksha.
