Kohima DLSA organised a Legal Awareness Program on National Lok Adalat at Tseminyu District in collaboration with District Administration Tseminyu, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority informed.
Deputy Commissioner Tseminyu Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, NCS, in his speech, encouraged the participants to avail the benefits of legal services specially in the upcoming National Lok Adalat and also encouraged them to spread the awareness message to their own respective colonies, villages and people.
Kohima DLSA Panel Lawyer Mhayani Pan informed that National Lok Adalat is held on a quarterly basis every year and it is specially conducted for the poor and marginalized sections of the society. She further said that it is for discharging speedy justice and stated that the beneficiaries can settle their cases such as civil cases like bank loan recovery, debt recovery etc, water and electricity bills excluding theft cases, matrimonial cases, MACT cases, petty offence cases etc through Lok Adalat without paying any court or advocate fees and the disputes are settled amicably.
She also informed the participants that the award made by Lok Adalat is deemed to be a decree of a civil court and is final and binding on all parties when settled amicably and no appeal lies against the award before any court.
Nonguzo Tase, Panel Lawyer, Kohima DLSA shared about the Free Legal Aid Services in the District and its objectives.
Earlier, EAC Tseminyu Town Roko Angami NCS delivered the welcome note.
The program was attended by the GBs, Chairmen and Members of the village counsel under Tseminyu district, Youth bodies and some NGOs at Tseminyu town.
The program was chaired by Nagali Shohe Panel Lawyer Kohima DLSA and concluded with a vote of thanks by Keduvi Zhotso, Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel.
