The District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) Kohima convened the monthly meeting at the DPDB Hall on 15th January 2025 with its Chairman Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, MLA, and Vice- Chairman, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Kohima.
DC, Ramnikant reviewed the minutes of the previous DPDB meeting and welcomed three new Board members, including Superintendent of Police, Kohima, Teisovise Metha, IPS. He also emphasized the importance of staff attendance of Kohima district offices at the upcoming Republic Day celebration.
Addressing the agenda, MLA Rhutso spoke on the need for construction of the Link Road at JNV Yakouke, Kohima, citing the requirement for proper security fencing of the JNV as the current footpath traverses the school premises. The Board agreed to forward the proposal for further action.
The MLA urged district officers to present both challenges and success stories in their departmental PowerPoint presentations during DPDB meetings, where he emphasized synergy among departments for efficient project execution.
Er. Obed Natso, Executive Engineer of the Water Resource Department (WRD), Kohima Division, delivered a detailed presentation. He outlined the department’s initiatives, including PMKSY-HKKP, NFC projects, and the National Hydrology Project, aimed at enhancing irrigation potential and water resource management. Natso highlighted challenges such as calamities, site accessibility, manpower shortages, and tight project timelines. He elaborated on the district’s implementation of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan, “Catch the Rain,” in alignment with the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari initiative.
The Kohima Municipal Council was assigned to deliver its presentation at the next DPDB meeting.
