In an effort to address the pressing issue of air pollution, the Kohima Forest Division conducted an awareness program on air pollution in all the four Night Schools of Kohima Village.
Highlighting the effects of air pollution, Shekali, Kohima Forest Division, Documentation expert, said it causes varied diseases like asthma, pneumonia and other kinds of respiratory diseases. With the main cause of air pollution in Nagaland being dust emitted from the poor road conditions, Shekali stressed on the need for students to take proactive steps at home, at school and in their own neighborhood to mitigate the effects of air pollution.

She encouraged the students to encourage their parents to carpool to work and also the students to carpool to school. Shekali further called on the students to plant trees and maintain a clean and green environment.
Drawing, essay and painting competitions were also held in all the four Night Schools and cash prizes were distributed to the winners and essential stationeries were provided to all the students.
