The Kohima Lotha Hoho celebrated its 50th anniversary in a grand and vibrant gathering that beautifully coincided with Tokhü Emong, the premier festival of the Lotha community. The milestone event brought together leaders, elders, youth, and well-wishers from across districts, setting a tone of unity, cultural pride, and community progress.
The programme opened with a welcome address by KN Mhonthung Lotha, Chairman of the Kohima Lotha Hoho, who warmly greeted the gathering and highlighted the significance of the occasion.
Addressing the gathering as the guest of honour, Deputy Chief Minister, Yanthungo Patton extended heartfelt greetings to the community. He noted the special significance of the Golden Jubilee coinciding with Tokhü Emong and expressed gratitude for the Lotha community’s unwavering support.
Patton praised the Chief Minister’s commitment and vision for the welfare of the Nagas and urged the community, especially the youth to work hard, pursue knowledge, rise above divisive “isms,” and remain united. He emphasized the importance of forgiveness and harmony for the progress of Nagaland.
Delivering the chief guest’s address, Chief Minister, Dr Neiphiu Rio congratulated the Kohima Lotha Hoho on reaching the 50-year milestone. He commended the organizers for creating an event that brought together Lothas from various districts along with tribal leaders from across Nagaland an exemplary show of unity.

Rio highlighted the richness of Lotha culture and the significance of preserving and passing down traditions to future generations. Speaking about Wokha district, he described it as a land “rich in beauty, resources, resilience, and potential,” and noted that the Lotha community ranks high in per-capita income as per human development indicators.
He applauded the community’s hardworking and innovative spirit, calling it an inspiration for others. The Chief Minister expressed hope for peace in the land and encouraged the people to direct their time and resources toward meaningful and constructive pursuits.
The celebration continued with a colourful cultural troupe performance, showcasing the vibrancy of Lotha traditions.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Jonas Yanthan, followed by a closing prayer from Rev., marking a graceful conclusion to the Golden Jubilee event.
