In a concerted effort to promote cleanliness under the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2024’ campaign, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), in collaboration with the Swachhata Bharat Mission, organized a street play at Old NST, Kohima today. The play was performed by the Drama Club of St. Joseph’s Autonomous College, Jakhama, and aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.

Neilhouphrelie Paphino, Chief Inspector of KMC, addressed the gathered crowd, urging shopkeepers and pedestrians to stop and watch the performance. He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in keeping Kohima clean.
Deputy Chairperson of KMC, Khrielievi Chüsi, encouraged the community to not only clean their homes but also ensure their surroundings are well-maintained. He stressed the need for a united effort to preserve the cleanliness of the city.
The highlight of the event was the impactful street play performed by the students, which portrayed the role of every citizen in contributing to the cleanliness drive, echoing the message of civic responsibility.
This initiative is part of a broader movement to engage communities in the mission to create a cleaner, healthier Kohima.
