To ensure smooth vehicular traffic during the festival period of the Hornbill Festival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama with events spread across various locations within Kohima Town from December 1-10, the Kohima Police has issued traffic advisories. A press release issued by the PRO Kohima Police has requested all concerned to comply with the directives.
- No heavy vehicles will be allowed to enter Kohima Municipal area from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM from December 1 to 10. All heavy vehicles will be stopped at the following locations: – Dzüdza Bridge, Khuzama Police check gate.
- All loading/unloading within Kohima Municipal area must be completed before 7:00 AM.
- Parking facilities will be available at the following locations –
- New Multi-Level car parking, Old NST.
- New Multi-Level car parking, Old Medical Directorate.
- Traffic Regulations for Hornbill Night Carnival:
To facilitate Kohima Night Carnival at Kohima town, vehicular restrictions will be enforced in the following locations from 4:00PM to 09:00 PM daily w.e.f December 1 to 10.
- The road stretch from Y-Junction Phoolbari to Razhü Point will be restricted for vehicular traffic.
- All LMVs will be diverted from Y-Junction to Razhü Point via Local Ground (Khuochiezie).
- Heavy public utility vehicles proceeding towards high school area will be diverted from TCP gate and allowed to take the alternate road from NHAK junction or T – Khel model village road.
- There will be no-entry for vehicular traffic from New Market road to New NST.
- City buses will be diverted as per the public notice issued by DC Kohima vide NO.DCK/TPT2/MISC/2011-12 dated Kohima, November 28.

- Alternate routes to Kisama & IG Stadium:
- Alternate route for vehicles coming from Dimapur/ Chümoukedima towards the venue to the Hornbill Festival Kisama is available via Old KMC check gate – Jotsoma – Nagaland College of Music and Fine Arts – Forest colony – BSNL exchange – Cathedral – Aradura Inn – Phesama – Kisama. LMVs are advised to take this route to avoid traffic congestions. Direction boards at appropriate locations have been installed to guide travellers.
- Alternate route for vehicles coming from Dimapur/ Chümoukedima and proceeding to Tseminyu, Wokha, Mokokchung and beyond and Secretariat area are advised to take the newly constructed T- Khel model village road till IG stadium
- Vehicle owners are advised to keep their contact numbers pasted on the windshield both at Kisama and at the venue of the night carnival
- Vehicles causing obstruction to free flow of traffic (Vehicles parked in No Parking Zone/vehicles parked within the longitudinal white solid line marked on both side of the road) in the NH towards Kisama and Kohima Municipal area shall be towed without further warning as per the provision of section 127 MV Act. Vehicle owners shall be responsible for all towing costs and shall also be penalized u/s 201 MV Act.
“Kohima Police request the cooperation of everyone in this regard,” appealed the press release.
