Kohima Police recovers toy pistol from extortionists; seizes suspected heroin worth over Rs 2.17 crore

Kohima Police arrested two persons on extortion case in broad daylight on 18 July 2023 from Officers’ Hill and Lerie (CRPF Camp area), Kohima. A toy pistol was said to had been recovered from the possession of the two persons who were posing as members of the NSCN-K (Nikki) outfit and extorting money from business establishments located at Lerie Colony.

Police have revealed the identity of the arrested accused persons as Shakulo Thong (22 yrs), resident of Sendenyu village under Tseminyu district and Thohrü (28 yrs), resident of Chowainu village under Senapati district, Manipur.

Kohima Police also seized Rs 2.17 crore worth of suspected heroin in two separate cases at Inter-State Police Check Gate, Khuzama on 19 July. The drugs weighing approximately 2070 grams were packed in 169 soap cases and transported in dumper trucks.

In this regard, five individuals namely 1) Subash Bista (27 yrs), resident of Senapati, Manipur, 2) Amusana Singh (37 yrs), resident of Bokajan, Assam, 3) Abdul Ahmed (30 yrs), resident of Golaghat, Assam, 4) Losii Payio, resident of Sanapati, Manipur and 5) Manikho, resident of Sanapati, Manipur have been arrested and NDPS cases registered at Khuzama Police Station for further investigation, the police informed.

With this latest seizure, Kohima Police has registered a record haul of 346 soap cases of heroin weighing 4137 grams estimated to be worth 4.34 crore in the month of July 2023.
