The Konyak Union, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong and Konyak Students’ Union have condemned the death of late Temzei Konyak, Chairman, Konyak Region, NSCN-R (Akato) “presumably in the custody of the NSCN-IM cadres” at Tizit on 31 July 2023.

“Irrespective of the case, no individual or group has any right to take the life of another”, the Konyak organisations said in a joint statement. They also asserted that NSCN-IM should take responsibility and ensure a fair investigation so that justice is served against its cadres who were involved in the “heinous crime”.

The Konyak CSOs further stated that killing of Late Temzei was a violation of the 18 December 2007 resolution of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) that “vowed to maintain a bloodshed-free region”.

“What happened at Tizit is a total violation of the advocacy of the Konyak CSO and the ENPO. Such dastard and inhumane acts shall not be tolerated on Konyak soil”, the CSOs added while also appealing to all parties to maintain peace and harmony in the region.

“We must collectively strive to ensure justice is served, and that such tragic incidents are not repeated in future”, the Konyak CSOs stated.
