The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has condemned what it termed as ‘heinous and barbaric act’ committed by Wapang L Imsong, an LDA cum Computer Operator under the 10th IR Battalion Zadima, who was accused of manhandling a 9-year-old boy kept as a domestic helper.
“Such a vile and inhumane act is not only morally reprehensible but also a grave violation of the fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution of India,” stated the KSU in a press statement.
Appalled over the cruelty inflicted upon a minor, the Union expressed deep concern and outrage, and urged the responsible authorities to take immediate and stringent action against the accused and ensure that justice is served without delay.

“This act is a glaring example of abuse of power and high-handedness, which has no place in a civilized society. The perpetrator must be prosecuted under relevant sections of the law dealing with child abuse and violation of fundamental rights,” asserted the Union.
Extending solidarity with the victim, the KSU called upon the civil society, child rights organizations, and government institutions to join hands in ensuring that such acts are never repeated. “Justice must prevail,” stated the Union.
