The Konyak Students’ Union, Kohima has extended its support to the demand for age relaxation up to 37 years made by a group of Civil Services Aspirants.
The Union acknowledged that the aspirants will be losing out due to the COVID-19 pandemic and stated in a press release that the one time age relaxation order No. AR-5/ASSO/98 (vol-1) from the P&AR department which gave age relaxation to those candidates over 35 years was biased and that the relaxation should also benefit those candidates nearing 35 and below.
KSUK President N Bangyoh Naam and General Secretary Pangom W Khema urged the State Government “to reconsider and make necessary arrangements like that of other counterparts states for those aspirants who are deprived of their rightful opportunities due to non compliance of age relaxation and give equitable and inclusive solution to the problem.”
The Union has further criticised the State Government for failing “miserably” to give employment opportunities to the youths of Nagaland. “Today, over one in four youth is unemployed and frustrated which is also directly or indirectly the failure of the government,” it stated.
