The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has served a five day ultimatum to Department of School Education to cancel the rationalisation order of teachers.

Opposing the recent major move by the Department, the KSU stated in a press note, that it had already submitted its representation to the Commissioner & Secretary to School Education on dated 22nd August 2022, Reference No :-KSU/C&S/SE-3/21-23/224, clearly stating that any rationalization of teachers should not be carried out without a proper ground reality report. “Despite our concerns, and due to the influence of infamous political powers, a major rationalization has been executed, severely affecting numerous schools across the district,” stated the Union.

As a result of this decision, the Union pointed out concerns:

  1. Several primary schools have been left with only one teacher, compromising the quality of education.
  2. Some teachers have been transferred outside the district without relievers, leaving students stranded and helpless.

“This arbitrary decision has placed an unjust burden on students and teachers alike, creating an educational crisis in our district,” expressed the Union.

The Konyak Students’ Union further informed that it also submitted a final reminder to the Commissioner Secretary School Education through the Deputy Commissioner Mon, on dated 24th January 2025, Reference No:- KSU/REM-12/GHSS-C/24-27/134 citing to appoint 6 PGTs at newly upgraded GHSS-C before 10th February 2025.

“However, the concern authority has failed to address the same. Therefore, the Konyak Students’ Union Name is left with no choice but to issue a five-day ultimatum to the concerned authorities to immediately cancel the rationalization order and take corrective measures,” asserted the Union.

Failure to act within the given time frame, the Union stated that it will be compelled to take stronger measures, including the shutting down of all government schools and offices in the district as a sign of protest. “We urge the responsible authorities to address this pressing issue at the earliest in the interest of students and the future of our education system,” expressed the Union.
