The Office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mokokchung, has issued an order enforcing restrictions ahead of the bye-election to the 28-Koridang (ST) Assembly Constituency.
As per the order issued on April 4, the campaigning period will end at 4:00 PM on April 7, 2026, in accordance with Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
The order stated that during the last 48 hours leading up to the close of polling, there will be a complete prohibition on public meetings, rallies, and processions related to the election.
After 4:00 PM on April 7, no person shall convene, attend, or address any public meeting or procession in connection with the bye-election. The display of election-related content through electronic media and the arrangement of entertainment programmes intended to influence voters have also been prohibited.
Further, the administration directed that political functionaries, party workers, and individuals brought from outside the constituency, who are not registered electors of the 28-Koridang Assembly Constituency, must leave the constituency after the campaign period ends. The measure, it stated, is aimed at ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful election.

The order warned that any violation of the provisions will attract punishment, including imprisonment of up to two years, fine, or both.
The administration has directed election officials, magistrates, police, and security forces to strictly enforce the order and ensure compliance.
