The Kohima Press Club (KPC) on Monday observed a short time of prayer and thanksgiving as the construction of its long-awaited building commenced at the state government-allotted plot near the Capital Convention Centre.

Dr Kevichalie Metha, Pastor, Peraciezie Baptist Church Kohima pronounced a prayer of blessing for the ensuing KPC building construction works. Citing passages from the Bible in book of Psalm 121 & 127, the church leader hoped that it would become a place for the voiceless, where their voices will be heard.

He further wished the KPC well, expressing that the building which is set to be constructed may become a place where journalists will have a wonderful and a blessed time.

KPC president, Alice Yhoshü acknowledged the state government under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for having the insight and addressing the urgent need of the growing press fraternity in the state capital, the Directorate of Information & Public Relations and NPWD (Housing) for smoothly facilitating necessary paper works, Zynorique Initiatives, LB Enterprise and the KPC’s building committee for their support towards making everything possible with regard to the KPC building construction plans.
