KU, PPC issue guidelines on ongoing ‘Public Emergency’ in Eastern Nagaland

Mon/Longleng: Medical services, Fire & Emergency and Power Department to be exempted

The Konyak Union (KU) and the Phom People’s Council (PCC) have issued guidelines to be followed in Mon and Longleng districts during the ongoing ‘Public Emergency’ declared by Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization in the Eastern Nagaland region. ENPO is demanding for the earliest settlement of the proposed Frontier Nagaland Territory.

On 8th March 2024, ENPO imposed a total bandh from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm in the region. Later in the day, the apex organisation announced that the closure of all government offices will continue during the ‘Public Emergency’.

In this regard KU and PCC issued the directives in separate notifications which include:

  1. Closure of government offices until further notice
  2. Restrictions on Movement of Government Vehicles
  3. Any private vehicle found plying on government duty other than transporting essential commodities shall be seized
  4. Any government offices found functioning at office/private residents shall be dealt with seriously
  5. Educational institutions to resume normal classes
  6. No restrictions on public movement and private vehicles
  7. Government services such as Medical, Fire & Emergency and Power Department to be exempted
