The Kumlong Ward Sanitation Committee, under the aegis of the Kumlong Ward Council, on Saturday launched the “Kumlong Clean and Green Initiative: A Compact Developmental Activity Plan” alongside a waste management workshop at the RTO Complex, Kumlong Ward.
The initiative, launched in partnership with MMC Councillor Satemkala and MMC Government Nominee
Wapangnaro Pongen, aims to educate and sensitize residents on proper waste management starting from households. Key activities will include a door-to-door campaign led by selected women volunteers from different parts of the ward and the introduction of plastic waste disposal strategies to promote waste segregation and maximize plastic waste collection. NagaGenZ, a YouTube channel, will serve as the project ambassador.
The workshop’s resource person, Kilepchiba, MMC Sanitation Inspector, spoke on waste generation, segregation, and disposal, outlining MMC’s ongoing waste management efforts in Mokokchung. He emphasized that the issue of waste can only be effectively addressed through collaborative efforts between ward councils and the public.
Bendangyanger, presented the project’s aims and objectives, while Wapangnaro Pongen briefed the gathering on the roadmap for the door-to-door campaign.

The launch-cum-workshop was chaired by Dr L Imlinichet Imchen, Secretary of the Sanitation
Committee, with an invocation by Dr. R. Zulu, Associate Pastor of Kumlong Baptist Church, and a welcome address by Councillor Satemkala. Chairman of the Sanitation Committee.
