The Kushiabill Kachari Community, in a vibrant collaboration with the Kachari Youths and Women of Kushiabill, Gyanswrang Fwraishali, Rungsari Laloram Kachari Dwrwngari Denkhwmu Swlwngshali, and the Kachari Gaon Buras (GBs) of Kushiabill, celebrated the Rongjali Bwisagu Festival 2025 on May 4, 2025, at the Kachari Community Hall Dimapur.
The festival, marking the Mech (Bodo )New Year, was a spectacular showcase of Mech Kachari culture, unity, and heritage, informed a press release by the Chairman, Kachari Community Kushiabill
Rongjali Bwisagu, a cornerstone of the Mech Kachari community’s traditions, heralds the start of a new annual cycle and is celebrated with fervor to promote peace, cultural pride, and togetherness. The collaborative effort brought together diverse groups within the community, creating an unforgettable celebration filled with traditional rituals, music, dance, and communal harmony.
The event was a cultural extravaganza, with captivating performances by the Kachari Youths of Kushiabill and students of Laluram Mech Folk Music School Padumpukhuri.

The Gyanswrang Farwaisali troupe mesmerized the audience with traditional Bwisagu and Mech Kachari dances, while the beats of the kham, serja, and jotha echoed through the venue. Community members of all ages joined in the iconic Bwisagu dance, symbolizing unity and joy.
Subash Mech, Head GB addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude to the collaborating organizations for their dedication. “This year’s Rongjali Bwisagu is a testament to our collective strength and commitment to preserving our cultural heritage. Together, we celebrate not just a festival, but the spirit of our Mech Kachari identity,” he said.
The Kachari GBs of Kushiabill played a pivotal role in mobilizing the community and ensuring the event’s success, while the Laluram Mech Folk Music School enriched the celebration with their expertise in traditional music. The Gyanswrang Farwaisali and Kachari Youths brought youthful energy, bridging generations through their performances and active participation.
