The Kohima Village Youth Organization has reaffirmed its commitment to ‘Clean Election’ and ‘One Man, One Vote’ and has also reminded all Wards under All Kohima Municipal Ward Panchayats (AKMWP) to uphold the same in the forthcoming election to the urban local bodies scheduled to be conducted on 26th June 2024.

KVYO has also stated that it supports the State Election Commission’s rule that “Any person who is a registered elector of a ward in a Municipal/Town Council is eligible to contest from any Ward of that particular Municipal, Town Council.”

Further, the Organization has requested the Panchayats under AKMWP to be a “beacon of Hope and Justice for the younger generation, to be apolitical.”

It also stated that “any guidelines restricting citizens to express their democratic rights, other than the Clean Election campaign and those prescribed under the Nagaland Municipal Act 2023 and the guidelines given by the State Election Commission, Nagaland shall be termed as anti-people and the sole responsibility will be borne by the concerned Ward/Wards.”
