Ladybird School’s rising stars shine at State Level Taekwondo Tournament; Mokokchung District celebrates success

Mokokchung: MDTA presents cash rewards, gleaming medals, and certificates of excellence to medallists

In a remarkable display of skill and determination, the young taekwondo champions from Ladybird School, Sentimmoa Ozukum, and Temsumongla Longkumer, secured Bronze medals in different weight categories at the state level tournament held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. The Mokokchung District Taekwondo Association (MDTA) proudly felicitated its triumphant Under-14 Taekwondo delegation in a grand ceremony today at Alempang Ward, Mokokchung.

The event witnessed a jubilant atmosphere as the MDTA celebrated the accomplishments of the district’s ten talented players and their two dedicated support team members. MDTA President, Supongwati Jamir, beaming with pride, presented the victorious medallists with well-deserved cash rewards, gleaming medals, and certificates of excellence. The remaining participants were also honoured with certificates, acknowledging their commitment and effort in the tournament.

Addressing the gathering, MDTA General Secretary, Nukshi I. Ozukum, highlighted the discipline and dedication required in taekwondo, a sport that opens vast opportunities for those who strive for excellence. He assured the young athletes that the association would wholeheartedly support and promote them in future tournaments, encouraging them to continue giving their best in every endeavour.

Bendang, an executive member of MDTA, delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing appreciation for the entire association, especially the Team Manager, Coach, and participants, for their exceptional performance that brought glory to the district. Despite limited training time, the participants displayed exceptional skills, setting a shining example for the days to come and inspiring others to pursue excellence.

The felicitation ceremony was followed by a friendly interaction between MDTA officials and the Boxing Association Mokokchung at the ongoing boxing camp in the multipurpose Indoor stadium. The camaraderie between the two associations showcased the spirit of sportsmanship and the commitment to uplift various sports in the district.
