A house in Etsüchuka Colony, Wokha Town, was damaged by landslide triggered by relentless rain on 26th August 2024 at around 3:00 pm. Fortunately, Yanpothung Jami, the house owner, and the five other members of his family were not present at home during the time of the incident. However, the family could only salvage a few of their belongings.
The landslide is also said to have compromised the foundations of nearby houses, prompting evacuations.
A team of the All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA), Wokha Unit, led by President T Renbemo Kikon, along with executive members and advisors, extended support to the affected family, providing financial aid today.
The Association has requested a formal assessment by the authorities and urged assistance for the impacted families. They also appealed the concern departments, contractors, and companies to clear blocked drainage and maintain public roads affected by the monsoon.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Etsüchuka Colony, Aremo Kithan informed that the landslide was caused by sudden heavy rainfall in Wokha on 26th August 2024. He also informed that the District Administration and Disaster Management teams had visited the site for an assessment. Further, Kithan said that the residents of Etsüchuka Colony have also organised donations for emergency relief for the affected family and a meeting was also held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Wokha on Tuesday to discuss the situation further.
