Following an assessment that deemed a section of National Highway-29 at Chainage KM 175.350 unsafe for vehicular movement due to the risk of accidents and further landslides amid prevailing weather conditions, the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, NCS, has ordered the temporary closure of the affected stretch with immediate effect until further notice.

To facilitate movement, the Deputy Commissioner has notified alternative routes. Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) are permitted to use the Jotsoma Bypass road. Meanwhile, all heavy vehicles, military and paramilitary vehicles, compact and mid-size pickup trucks, and all types of commercial passenger vehicles are to take the Peducha Bridge–Tsiesema (10 Mile Road) route.

The DC also cautioned that any violation of this order would invite prosecution under relevant sections of the law.
