‘Law will take its own course’: CM Rio on illegal transportation of arms and ammo to Manipur

Kohima: CM says when tripartite talk on FNT will begin depends on MHA

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Thursday asserted that law would take its own course of action against the erring police officer and five other accused who were involved in transporting illegal arms and ammunition to strife torn Manipur.

“They are arrested, and the investigation is going on so, I think law will take its own course,” said the Chief Minister.

Rio was speaking to a section of reporters after a program at Raj Bhavan, Kohima.

When asked what role the state can play in bringing peace in Manipur, Rio responded saying that as per Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s statement this morning, Singh has asked not only the European Parliament but the entire North East not to interfere in their internal problems.

Responding to a query on ENPO on when the tripartite talk will commence, Rio said that it depends on the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). He added, as peoples’ representatives it will be shared with the people when the talk commence.

Rio refrained from commenting on the Framework Agreement, “Framework is Framework discussion is going on, we have nothing to say.”
