In response to the recent resolution passed by the Lotha Baptist Ekhumkho Pastorden Sanrhyu which reportedly prohibits Lotha Baptist women from marrying Roman Catholic men, the Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA), Mission Centre Vankhosung today clarified its position on the issue at the headquarter Vankhosung.
Executive Secretary of the LBCA, Rev Nyanchumo Lotha stated that the association and its affiliated churches had “nothing to do with the resolution “ and called the Lotha Baptist Ekhumkho Pastorden Sanrhyu (Lotha Baptist Pastors’ Conference) of the breakaway church as “unrecognised and unauthorized”.
He clarified that the LBCA, along with its constitutionally elected executive members, office bearers, and affiliated churches, does not endorse the resolution.
Rev Lotha further asserted that the LBCA “will not abide by the diktat of the so-called Lotha Pastors’ Conference of the breakaway Baptist group,” emphasizing that the said conference was organized without the mandate of the LBCA.
Rev Lotha also informed that the annual LBCA Pastors’ Conference— a regular calendar event—was originally scheduled to be held at Old Ralan Baptist Church on October 25–26, 2025. However, due to obstructions created by the unrecognized group, the conference was shifted to Totsü Baptist Church. The breakaway group, he added, held a separate conference from which the controversial resolution emerged.

Despite the challenges, the LBCA confirmed that its annual Pastors’ Conference was successfully conducted at Totsü Baptist Church as scheduled. Rev. Lotha further noted that the breakaway group cannot be regarded as part of the Baptist denomination, as it functions independently without the authorization of the LBCA.
He further clarified that the LBEPS is merely a fellowship body and does not possess the authority to form committees or pass resolutions without the consent of the LBCA headquarters at Vankhosung.
