Learn and Lead: Khiamniungan Students Union holds 61st Assembly and Special Session

The Khiamniungan Students Union (KSU) held it’s 61st Assembly cum Special Session under the theme ‘Learn and Lead’ on January 17 at Thoktsur (Longsingking) village, KSU Special Session Hall.

MLA & Chairman DPDB Noklak P. Longon graced occasion as the Special Guest while MLA, Benei M Lamthiu was the Guest of Honor.

According to DIPR, Longon addressed gathering by expressing his gratitude for the opportunities to serve Khiamniungan people in different capacities as a student leader, as a tribe leader and as an elected represent today. Longon who has been elected for the fourth time by his people acknowledged God and his people. Appreciating MLA Benei M Lamthiu for various reasons and commitment to serve the people, he urged the gathering to extend cooperation and support to the MLA. He also encouraged Lamthiu to work hard and be a man of action. Longon also called upon the people to uplift the Khiamniungans for a vibrant society.

Together with Benei M Lamthiu, Longon assured to fulfill the long felt needs of Longsingking grievances. He expressed regret over the past years and called upon the gathering to forget and forgive the bitter past and reconcile for a better society. Asserting that the present generation has no place for violence, he urged to remove all fears psychosis from our mind and live in peace and prosperity. The MLA also spoke about the importance of preservation and to preserved Flora and Fauna.

MLA, Benei M Lamthiu who was the Guest of Honour said that, Longsingking Village has shown a good example as where there is unity; there is peace, purpose and development. “Though it’s a small community, your unity has shown a certain good example to the rest of Khiamniungan as nothing is impossible if we worked with unity,” he maintained. Lamthiu also encouraged the students to be more dedicated, disciplined and work hard with determination to achieve their goals. He assured to fulfill the grievances of his people with his best and urged the gathering to co-operate with the representative and the government.

Earlier, President Khiamniungan Students Union, Noklak Shangchiu unveiled the Monolith in commemoration of its 61st Federal Assembly Cum Special Session and was dedicated by Haimong pastor Peshu Baptist Doathi.

Other highlights of the program were short speeches by president KTC, welcome note by Chairman Thoktsur village council, felicitation by Education Secretary, KSU, while presidential address was delivered by President KSU. The comperes of the program were Niamkoi and Mongchon P. SDO Civil, Thonoknyu and many party workers attained the Special Session. Folk song and dance was performed by the host village.
