The Department of Commerce, Livingstone Foundation International College organized a comprehensive Excursion cum Industrial Visit to Kolkata from 13th – 20th December 2023. The objectives were to enhance students’ understanding of textile factory operations, provide exposure to various aspects of Kolkata, and offer a relaxing break post their Semester exams, it was informed in the report released by Dr R. K. Behera, Principal of Livingstone Foundation International College on Friday.
LFI informed that nine students and three faculty members undertook the trip where the students were provided the opportunity to understand processes practically through interaction with the industrial environment, working methods, and employment practices. Students learned about the latest technology trend and make up their minds about their future job or area of interest.
During the trip, the students also explored Science City, delved into India’s history at Victoria Memorial, enjoyed a boat ride experiencing the serenity of the Ganga at Princep Ghat, and had a thrilling time at Nicco Park and Wet O’ Wild. Additionally, they explored local markets like Bura Bazaar, New Market, Fancy Market, and South City Mall.
The highlight of the trip was the visit to Rupa Factory in Domjur, Howrah, where Soumya Jasu, the Dyeing Unit Assistant HR, served as the guide, Livingstone Foundation International College said. Established in 2000, the factory specializes in dyeing and knitting for domestic and export production.
The trip provided an enriching learning experience, combining educational insights into textile manufacturing with the vibrant cultural exposure of the ‘City of Joy,’ Kolkata.
