LFIC conducts seminar on ‘Health Implications of Sex & Gender Differences’

Dimapur: Resource person stresses on understanding diseases suffered by individuals based on sex and gender

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Livingstone Foundation International College (LFIC) organised a Seminar on the topic ‘Health Implications of Sex & Gender Differences’ on 23 August 2023 in the LFI Auditorium, Thahekhu/Kevijau, Dimapur. The seminar was sponsored by the Bank of Baroda, Dimapur.

Dr. R. K. Behera, Principal, LFIC, informed in a press release that the program was graced by Chief Manager, BoB, Ramendra Nath Dubey as the Special Guest while Dr Leishiwon Kumrah, Head of Department of Dermatology, Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) was the Resource Person.

Dubey, in his speech, mentioned that as students in this generation, just classroom knowledge is not enough and that knowledge on such topics are of much importance as we never know when it might become handy and useful in later lives.

The resource person gave a very crisp power point presentation elaborating on the various diseases from which individuals tend to suffer due to their biological make up as male and female. She also mentioned that even the environment plays a major role in this. Depending on someone’s sex and gender, clinicians might also approach diseases based on them. Therefore, it is very crucial to understand diseases suffered by individuals based on someone’s sex and gender, Dr Kumrah added.

The program was chaired by Vesulu Thingo, Assistant Co-ordinator IQAC; Suipoile Asstt. Prof. Invoked God’s presence; Dr Tainla Mar, Vice Principal welcomed the guests and students; and the EU members presented a special song.

The program ended with a vote of thanks and closing remarks from Dr Behera, Principal, LFIC.
