He highlighted that life after retirement presents an opportunity to start something new and contribute to society, leveraging the vast experience and knowledge acquired while serving in public offices. He encouraged pensioners to form discussion groups and evolve into working groups, becoming think tanks for society. Starting such group activities, according to Jamir, would be a wonderful gift to the younger generation. Advisor Land Revenue, Law & Justice T.N. Mannen, IAS (Retd), also addressed the event, stating that retirement is merely a state of mind, and as long as one is physically healthy, there is no age limit for making positive contributions to society.
He viewed life as a journey and expressed gratitude for reaching a point where individuals can retire from public office, enjoy pension benefits, and continue contributing to society. During the event, the new President of KAPT, Dr. Watijungshi, delivered the welcome address, and Yanger Aier, President Kohima Ao Union, extended greetings on behalf of the Kohima Ao Union. The newly formulated Constitution of KAPT was presented to the members by Limawati Longchar, General Secretary of KAPT, which was unanimously accepted and adopted by the members, officially forming the Kohima Ao Pensioners’ Union. The newly formed Union comprises more than 500 members and is open to all retired government servants from the Ao Community in Kohima.
