The second day of the 87th General Conference of the Sungratsu Students Union featured a variety of cultural activities, including cultural presentations and indigenous competitions in loin loom craft, traditional winnowing, bamboo crafts, and clean bamboo cut competition on December 28.

In the evening program of the second day, S Bendang Aier graced the event as the Speaker, who addressed the gathering on the topic “Synchronization of Culture (Sobaliba jangyumedem).” The speaker emphasized that every student must share the responsibility of uplifting our rich culture, drawing parallels to how performers synchronize their movements on stage.

Culture, he noted, is not rigid and evolves with time, necessitating global citizens to adapt to the changing lifestyle. The speaker touched upon various aspects of culture, including political, economic, social, religious, traditional, language, and education cultures. He highlighted the crucial role the student community can play in bringing about positive changes in society. Regarding political culture, he urged students to address voting rights malpractices prevalent in society, expressing hope that the proactive involvement of the student community could restore stability.

During the morning session, M Taka Longchar, Chairman of the Village Council of Sungratsu, voiced concerns about the endangerment of their culture due to the preference for foreign languages over their mother tongue. He urged students to speak, learn, and write in their mother tongue to promote and preserve their cultural heritage.
