People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) consensus candidate, Dr Chumben Murry held his campaign here at NDPP office, Kohima along with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and a host of Legislators.
Addressing the campaign Dr Chumben Murry underscored that Indo Naga Political issue will take a crucial stage in this 18th Lok Sabha adding that solution to the Naga Political issue is a pre requisite for development.
“As politicians we cannot be a party to the talks but can project the views and aspirations of the people and this can be done by raising the issue at the Parliament,” he added.

Under the leadership of Rio there is a change of perception between the Centre and State, said Murry.
The candidate also said that in the field of politics, peace, development, and progress of a society are the seeds sowed in politics.
Lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy, he said that the NDA Government is going to come back and the next five years is going to be years of development.
Taking a dig at the congress, Murry said congress candidate S Supongmeren Jamir is harping on the platform of religion for political milage. With regard to congress manifesto on LGBTQI+, he said “I leave it to the people to analyse whether Congress is pro Christian.”
Murry acknowledged Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio along with the sixty MLAs for rendering their support in selecting him to contest for the Lok Sabha Election. He said that if he gets elected, he will represent Nagaland’s interests and address religious persecutions in the parliament.
Further, Murry urged the youth to join hand with PDA so that we can bring prosperity and peace.
In his keynote address, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio encouraged all to give their best and support PDA consensus candidate Dr Chumben Murry. “Everyone present here had all given our words to support him so let us do our best”, he said.
Deriding the other two contestants for the Nagaland Parliamentary seat, CM Rio said that whileIndependent candidate Hayithung T Lotha is running for the election without the support of his family or friends, Congress’ S Supongmeren Jamir is contesting for the sake of it. He further mocked the Party saying that they are fielding the NPCC President to save their face as there were no contenders for the Congress ticket. He claimed that the only thing the Congress has done for Nagaland was to impose President’s Rule and breaking governments in the State.
CM Rio assured that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to bringing development to the people irrespective of their religion or caste.
Furthermore, he said that during elections, negative things such as religious being attacked are brought up but as educated people, one should know what is right and wrong. Therefore, he encouraged people to do the right thing and elect the right person for development and peace.
The Chief Minister appreciated the unity and support from the Cabinet, Advisors and supporting parties and hoped that it will continue.
Earlier, BJP, NPP, NPF and Independent MLAs also delivered short speeches and assured the house that their parties and supporters will give full support to PDA consensus candidate.
