An awareness music video titled ‘Longjemer Nokdakti’ was released by Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung in celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child on Tuesday.
11 October was declared as the International Day of the Girl Child by the UN General Assembly on 19 December 2011. The day draws attention on the need to address the challenges faced by girls around the world and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the International Day of the Girl Child.
The music video released on Tuesday is an initiative of the District Administration, Mokokchung & Sakhi One Stop Centre.
Written and composed by Lima A Pongen, the song was sung by Kilemtula and is available for viewing on Youtube.
The song depicts the violence, inequality and injustice against women and the unprecedented challenges to various rights, physical and mental wellness that women face in society today.
