Assisted living devices were distributed to deserving beneficiaries in Longleng on Thursday under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) at an event organised by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India at the PBCA Convention Hall.
According to DIPR, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr Virendra Kumar was the Chief Guest of the distribution program on Thursday while Deputy Commissioner, Longleng Dharam Raj, IAS was the Special Guest. The event was chaired by Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak P, NCS, EAC, Longleng.
Supongwati Jamir, PO of ALIMCO, Guwahati, and Tual Za Kam, Under Secretary, Government of India, delivered speeches highlighting the significance of the RVY scheme and the positive impact it brings to the elderly population.
The Deputy Commissioner Longleng emphasized the government’s commitment to the welfare of senior citizens and the importance of programs like RVY in achieving that goal.
Y.B Angam Phom, President of Phom Peoples’ Council, expressed gratitude to the Ministry, ALIMCO, Longleng District Administration and Social Welfare Department while proposing the vote of thanks.
The event was held with the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, the implementing agency ALIMCO, Social Welfare Department Longleng and the District Administration Longleng.
Launched in 2017, Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana provides physical aids and assisted living devices for free of cost to senior citizens belonging to the Below Poverty Line (category) or senior citizens with monthly income up to Rs 15,000 who suffer from age related disabilities/infirmities.
