Longleng District Administration, in collaboration with BBBP (Beti Bachao Beti Padhao), District Hub for Empowering Women (DHEW), and One Stop Centre (OSC), came together to observe the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons at VDB Hall, Longleng.

During his keynote lecture, Deputy Commissioner Longleng, Dharam Raj, IAS, shed light on the alarming prevalence of human trafficking and its far-reaching implications. He emphasized that trafficking treats women as commodities, devoid of their consent, and linked the fight against trafficking to countering illegal activities like terrorism, militancy, and drug trade.

Raj called for a unified effort to challenge societal stigmas and recognize the shared responsibility of society, particularly men, in addressing crimes against women. He urged young women and girls to steer clear of such activities and instead focus on building a sustainable and empowered future for themselves and their families.

The program featured enlightening speeches by Advocate P. Monyei Phom, Panel Lawyer (LDLSA) Longleng, Marsosang, UBI, OC, Police Station Longleng, and Ketobu Vitsu, DCPO Longleng, who discussed “Awareness of Support Policy.” The event was attended by representatives from various organizations, including women wards, girl students, women church representatives, Phom Students Conference, District Child Protection, and Legal Services Authority.

The program commenced with an invocation by S. Ajong Phom, President of Yongnyah Hongnyula, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by P. Phungla Phom, District Mission Coordinator DHEW Longleng. C. Henchem Phom, Centre Administrator OSC Longleng, skillfully chaired the event, making it a meaningful and impactful occasion.
