Longleng Police and Phom La Hoichem jointly organised a seminar on the theme ‘Drug Free but Empowered Villages’ to raise awareness on drugs and drug abuse in villages of Longleng district. The program was held at Yongnyah Baptist Church, Yongnyah Village on 23 July 2023 and was attended by residents of Yongnyah, Yongshei, Tangha and Yongam village, Longleng Police informed.

Dr Pritpal Kaur, IPS, Superintendent of Police Longleng and the resource person at the event spoke on drugs menace in Longleng and how to control its supply and demand chain. She urged for cooperation and collaboration between the society and police to spread awareness amongst the generations of the harmful effects of drugs and other intoxicants.
She also explained all the legal proceedings and role of everyone fighting the drugs menace. The SP further campaigned for empowerment of villages through hard work, honesty and education.
The press release from Longleng police also mentioned that in the program, Tialemba, Executive Secretary, Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) spoke on the management of those addicted to drugs and their rehabilitation, while Mano, President Phom La Hoichen and Ainyu spoke on ways in fighting drugs abuse, role of women and their empowerment.
Drug dependants present a song of commitment to leave their drugs abuse habit at the event. The welcome address was given by Village Development Board Secretary, Bonglom of Yongnyah village and Chaiang, Chairman of Action Committee to Stop Drugs Abuse, delivered the vote of thanks.
The program was chaired by Yimngoi and invocation was prayed by Chongla, Yongnyah Baptist Church.
