The Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) in collaboration with Longleng District Users Network and Yingli Mission Society organised a program on the theme “Drug – Free – We Dare to Say No” on 26 June 2023, the International Day Against Drugs Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Speaking as the special guest, Dr Pritpal Kaur, IPS, the Superintendent of Police, Longleng emphasized on effective intel collection for drugs raids and urged all the NGOs to save the society from this slow poison. She stressed that all stakeholders should work together.
Students should learn to say “NO” against drug abuse and rather focus on their career and work hard to build more progressive society, she said.
Dr Kaur also explained the legal systems against drugs and the dangerous effects of drugs like SP capsules, brown sugar, yaba, sunflower, etc.

Mention may be made that the SP had started a livelihood training program for drug users a month back in coordination with Longleng District Users Network headed by Shahshing, where the members are taught to make handicrafts and mudaa (woven stool) along with rehabilitation treatment.
15 muddas handmade by the participants of the program were exhibited and sold after the program on Monday.
Short speeches were also given be PBCA, ES, Tialemba who informed about the new rehabilitation centre to be opened at Longleng; Mano, president, Phom La Hoichen suggested including drivers’ union in the war against drugs; Dape, Phom Students’ Conference (PSU) urged to make students aware about the social menace; Atula Jamir, OST centre, informed about OST centre’s work; Shahshing, Longleng District Users Network acknowledged Potter’s House and explained livelihood training of drug rehab patients; Hampom from Tamlu explained about HIV; and Chuba, President, All Wards Union urged to fight stigma of drugs abuse.
A special song was presented by Ayolta Rehab Centre and a play by Yingli college.
The program was attended by all village council chairmen, ward chairmen, all church pastors, PSC, PBCA, Drug Users Network, Phom La Hoichen, Yingli Mission, Longleng Police, Longleng town public and all NGOs where everyone resolved to work together against this menace.
